Phillips New York, 13 June 2026, lot 10. An early two-tone subscription watch whose identity and provenance distinguish it from current production. Phillips reported a maker record and a record for a watch by an independent watchmaker at the time. Its result is not a benchmark for every brass-movement Résonance. Primary catalogue record.

2. FFC Prototype for Francis Ford Coppola: USD 10,755,000

Phillips New York, 6 December 2025, lot 17. This is the prototype associated with Francis Ford Coppola, not the 2021 FFC Blue charity watch or an ordinary production FFC. Its articulated hand displays the hours. Provenance is part of this individual lot’s identity, not a price multiplier that can be applied to the whole family. Primary catalogue record.

3. 1993 Tourbillon à Remontoir d’Égalité, 15/93: CHF 7,320,000

Phillips Geneva, 8 November 2024, lot 14. Phillips identifies 15/93 as the second wristwatch Journe made and the first he sold. The platinum watch has a gold movement and was accompanied by original technical drawings and its invoice. It precedes the 1999 branded collection; calling it a standard early-production Tourbillon would miss its importance. Primary catalogue record.

4. Chronomètre à Résonance Souscription No. 18: CHF 4,875,500

Phillips Geneva, 9 May 2026, lot 6. The lot identifies case 018/00R, circa 2000, in platinum and pink gold, with calibre 1499. The published lot result is CHF 4,875,500. The press-release table contains a CHF 500 discrepancy, so this guide follows the exact lot result and does not reproduce a falsely precise dollar conversion. Primary catalogue record.

5. FFC Blue, unique Only Watch charity piece: CHF 4,500,000

Christie’s / Only Watch, Geneva, 6 November 2021. The unique tantalum watch with a blue articulated hand was created for Only Watch. F.P.Journal 6 confirms the CHF 4.5 million result and 6 November 2021 sale date. It belongs in the historical record, but its charitable purpose makes it unsuitable as a routine production-price comparable. 6. Tourbillon Souverain Anniversaire Hong Kong No. 1 of 5: USD 4,355,000

Phillips New York, 14 June 2026, lot 85. A titanium and pink-gold Tourbillon with deadbeat seconds and a constant-force remontoir, numbered 1/5 TT – Hong Kong. Its edition identity and documented configuration matter. The exact result is USD 4,355,000; USD 4.4 million is only a rounded description. Primary catalogue record.

7. Chronomètre à Résonance Souscription No. 1: CHF 3,902,000

Phillips Geneva, 7 November 2021, lot 140. The first-numbered platinum and pink-gold Résonance was sold individually within the group of five number-one Journe watches offered in Geneva. This CHF 3,902,000 result belongs to lot 140 alone. The combined proceeds of all five watches are not a single-watch auction record. Primary catalogue record.

8. Chronomètre à Résonance No. 2, catalogued “Souscription”: CHF 3,327,000

Phillips Geneva, 9 November 2025, lot 182. Case 002/00R is an early platinum Résonance. There is an important catalogue qualification: the intended Tourbillon No. 2 owner declined it, and it was sold to another buyer. Phillips says F.P. Journe does not officially consider it a subscription watch, despite the auction title. Keep that distinction when comparing provenance. Primary catalogue record.

9. Tourbillon Souverain Souscription No. 1: CHF 3,539,000

Phillips Geneva, 7 November 2021, lot 138. The 1999 platinum Tourbillon, case 001/99T, uses calibre 1498 and represents the first-numbered subscription series. It is different from the handmade pre-brand 15/93 and the later Hong Kong anniversary watch. Their results should not be combined into a single Tourbillon price band. Primary catalogue record.

10. Chronomètre à Résonance Sincere, black mother-of-pearl: USD 3,690,000

Phillips New York, 7 December 2025, lot 97. The Sincere Fine Watches execution has a black mother-of-pearl dial and is catalogued as one of ten. Its retailer association, case and dial identify a special execution, not a generic current Résonance. The exact sale day is 7 December: lot 97 was in the second session. Primary catalogue record.

What the records have in common

Early numbered watches, unusual materials, documented special editions and named provenance recur in this selection. They help explain why these watches need individual comparison. The list does not prove that every rare dial or brass movement deserves a fixed premium, nor that one auction house is always the best route for a seller.

Do F.P. Journe watches hold their value?

There is no universal guarantee. A record list selects unusually successful lots and does not measure returns across the catalogue. Purchase price, condition, service, fees, timing and available buyers affect an owner’s outcome. A smaller historical production figure is not a permanent price floor.

For a standard watch, start with the dated price guide and valuation method. Compare close completed sales, disclose differences and estimate seller net. Do not divide a buyer-premium-inclusive result by a hammer estimate and call the difference appreciation.
