Begin with the complete reference
A family name such as DB28 is a starting point, not a complete description. Establish the version from the papers, invoice or manufacturer record. DB28, DB28XS and DB28XP are not interchangeable descriptions. Different complications and executions need their own comparison.
If you are uncertain, send what is available and identify the details you cannot confirm. Do not infer material or configuration from a photograph of another watch.
Four checks for a De Bethune review
- Model and reference: the full reference, edition information and complications documented for your watch.
- Case and finish: material, colour or treatment, visible marks, and known refinishing or replaced parts.
- Lug configuration: on floating-lug models, the supplied configuration and any known issue; state the size only when established.
- Service and set: invoices, operating observations, original buckle, straps, box and papers.
Photograph the dial, case surfaces, case back and both lug assemblies where applicable. De Bethune documents short and long floating-lug options for specific DB28 references. That does not establish which version your watch has. Do not dismantle or stress the lugs to demonstrate them.
Discuss service before commissioning work
Tell us about scratches, finish changes, timing concerns or other known issues. Keep service invoices and manufacturer estimates. Any proposed service cost belongs in the sale discussion.
Photographs cannot establish mechanical condition. An inspection process should name the responsible party and explain what happens if findings differ from the initial description.

Do I need a full set to enquire?

Can you price it from the model name?
