F.P. Journe lineSport: the sports collection, model by model

The first lineSport watches put low weight at the center of the design. Aluminum was used beyond the case: the brand also developed aluminum movements. A later titanium case does not mean the movement is titanium. Conversely, the gold and platinum versions use rose-gold movements rather than the aluminum construction of the titanium models.

The manufacturer dates the change to titanium to 2014. Its retrospective describes the practical challenge of the early aluminum finish, including anodizing. That history matters when assessing condition: a worn or marked early surface is not equivalent to an ordinary polished precious-metal case, and refinishing should not be assumed to be harmless.

Ask for the correct bracelet, clasp and all spare links when reviewing a complete set. A lightweight case does not establish water resistance or fitness for every sport. For an older watch, use the reference manual and a recent water-resistance check rather than the collection name as a safety rating.

The Centigraphe uses calibre 1506 with three timing displays: a one-second counter marked in hundredths, a 20-second counter and a 10-minute counter. A rocker controls the chronograph. It is a different mechanism from the automatic Octa Sport and from the split-seconds Rattrapante.

Version matters financially as well as mechanically. Phillips sold an early aluminum example, case 010-CTS, for HK$3,175,000 including buyer’s premium on 23 November 2025. The catalogue describes a circa-2011 watch in like-new condition with original accessories. Its early serial and condition make it a special comparison, not a price for a later titanium CTS or CTS2.

The Octa Sport carries the automatic calibre 1300.3 into a sports case. Its useful displays include central hours and minutes, small seconds, a date, a power reserve and a day/night indicator. The five-day precision period comes from the Octa platform; it should not be confused with a promise that a used watch is currently running to specification.

The first ARS generation and later ARS2 should be identified by their cases and documents. The manufacturer’s current Automatique Réserve page groups ARS2/AR2 and specifies 44 mm cases. It also distinguishes the aluminum movement and titanium/tungsten rotor of the titanium version from the gold movement and gold rotor of precious-metal versions.

The early aluminum archive describes its rotor inconsistently between the narrative and technical table. We do not use that disputed detail as an authentication rule. Ask the manufacturer or inspecting watchmaker to establish the exact configuration.

A rattrapante is a split-seconds chronograph: one chronograph hand can pause to record an intermediate time while the other continues. The paused hand can then catch up. “Monopoussoir” refers to the single control for the normal start, stop and reset sequence; the split-seconds function has its own control.

The lineSport model uses calibre 1518. F.P. Journe describes it as developed from the chronograph made for Only Watch 2017 and introduced into lineSport in 2018. It is not calibre 1506 and should not be described as an Octa or a standard Centigraphe with a different dial.

The manufacturer lists a 44 mm case and an 80-hour reserve. Material changes affect the movement as well as the exterior. In a condition review, ask the watchmaker to test start, stop, reset and split/catch-up behavior. A short video may reveal a problem, but it cannot replace inspection.

The Furtif joined lineSport in 2025. It uses a 42 mm tungsten-carbide case and bracelet with tantalum details, an anthracite enamel dial and the hand-wound calibre 1522. The power reserve and moon-phase display are on the back. That makes it distinct from the chronographs and automatic calendar watches above, rather than simply another metal option for them.

The Chronomètre Furtif guide separates the production CF from the unique blue-dial CFB made for Only Watch. A charity result for the latter does not establish an ordinary CF resale price.

The useful question for an owner is not “what does lineSport trade at?” It is which completed sales match this metal, generation, dial, condition and set, and what the chosen sale route would leave after costs. A special aluminum result should remain visible as a special result, not be blended with standard titanium watches.

For current reference-level work, use the owner’s valuation guide. If fewer than three credible closed comparables exist, that limitation should be stated. A larger table of unrelated watches does not improve the evidence.
